BMS Choir

The Bangkok Music Society Choir provides the source for the primary activities of the BMS. The major goal of the Choir is to present four concerts each season.

The Choir was established in 1991 through the impetus of Graham Taylor, who continued as its conductor until June 2007.  Since its inception, choral performances have included such masterworks as the Magnificat of JS Bach, the Duruflé Requiem and the Vivaldi Gloria, as well as two “Night at the Opera” concerts, one of which was accompanied by the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra.

The BMS Choir does not consider itself to be a professional group and membership is open to singers of all levels and abilities.  The emphasis is on enthusiasm for and commitment to the enjoyment of singing.  Students from the Thai and International Schools are encouraged to join the Choir to enhance their choral and musical experience.

Each new member is asked to sing for the director in order to determine voice placement in the choir.  Each person may prepare a song with which they are familiar or let the director run them through vocalizes.

The Choir meets each Wednesday evening from 7-9 PM during the Season.  The Season runs from mid-August through early June with a hiatus and Christmas holiday break to coincide with the schedules of the International Schools.  Dress rehearsals are scheduled per the need of each concert.  Rehearsals are held at music school in fortune town near Rama IX MRT station. Enthusiasm and commitment rather than musical experience are a must and we welcome all standards as long as you enjoy singing and simply want to get involved.
